The PTG is a voluntary organization consisting of parents, teachers, faculty/staff, and community members. We provide programs that enhance our children's educational experience, as well as supplementing school resources through fundraising.
There are many ways to volunteer: in school, at home, whether you are a working parent or a stay at home parent; if you can spare one hour or one hundred hours- you decide what's right for you, but please become a member!
Listed below are brief descriptions of our PTG programs. All committees are looking for new volunteers and may need new chairpersons. It's a great time to get involved!
Staff Appreciation Days: The PTG shows our appreciation to our teachers, aides and staff with a special 1-day event, Teacher/Staff Luncheon, as well as, Teacher Appreciation Days. Volunteers are needed to prepare or purchase food items and/or staff the events. You can drop off items, volunteer to help or both.
Bear Wear Merchandise: Volunteers are needed to coordinate and distribute orders for our BES apparel. This is typically done twice a year.
Family Fun Night - Bingo: BES families are invited for a fun-filled evening of playing Book Bingo! Each child that plays is guaranteed to win 2 scholastic books of their choosing! Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean-up and staffing this event.
Family Fun Night - Skating: BES families are invited for a fun filled evening roller skating! Located at Big Wheel, everyone is invited to attend with kids of all ages! Help organize a fun family roller skating event.
Refreshments: Volunteers are needed to provide refreshments as needed for up to six PTG sponsored events throughout the year. As events are scheduled, you will be contacted by the chairperson. You are not required to provide refreshments for all events, unless you choose to do so.
Santa's Secret Workshop (SSW): Children are given a safe and secure environment to purchase inexpensive holiday gifts for their family and friends. Volunteers are needed for set-up, breakdown and staffing the event as well.
Scholastic Book Fairs: The PTG sponsors two book fairs during the Fall & Spring. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, breakdown, sales, inventory and general assistance during this week long event. You are not required to volunteer for the entire week long event, unless you choose to do so.
Box Tops: General Mills “Box Tops for Education” labels are collected and turned in for cash and gifts for our school. Volunteers are needed to sort and count for each homeroom.
Gertrude Hawk Candy Sale: This sale takes place in Fall & Spring and features seasonal chocolates and candies. Catalogs are sent home. Volunteers are needed to organize the order forms and to sort and distribute the items on pick up day.
SpiritWalk: The PTG's most popular fundraising event. Students walk a one-mile loop along Main Street to celebrate their school spirit and to raise funds for special projects at the school. Parents are invited to participate by either volunteering to help organize, act as crossing guards, place decorations along the route, or by coming to the school or on Main Street to cheer on our students.
